Maybe things have been dry for you lately. Maybe you’ve been in a drought. Perhaps you are waiting on God for something specific like your health, your marriage, your finances or for Him to release you from a stronghold in your life. Trust me, the rain is coming.
A Mighty Rainstorm is Brewing
Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!” 1 Kings 18:41 NLT
Here’s how Joel Osteen explains this verse:
In First Kings 18, the Samaritans had been in a great famine. For three and a half years, there had been no rain. The prophet Elijah showed up and said to King Ahab, “I hear the sound of the abundance of rain.” When he said that, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, yet he chose to believe what he heard in his spirit in spite of what he saw in the natural. With his eyes, he saw drought, famine and barrenness; but inside, he heard the sound of the abundance of rain.
If you haven’t seen Joel’s message on this, then I’d highly recommend you watch it. It is very encouraging and enlightening.
Believe God Is Bringing the Rain
God will not let you down. In the background, He is working all things together for a mighty rainstorm of blessings to pour over you. So, don’t give up on Him.
Even though there isn’t a cloud in the sky right now. Even though you can’t see any possible way for this to work out in your favor, keep believing. Hold on to your faith because God’s arm is not too short! He is the God of miracles. He will give you the victory!
Joyce Meyer, in an article titled What to Do When You’re Waiting on God, says that we should wait on God with eager expectation because He often moves suddenly. There might be a wait involved, but once the time is right, God will swiftly bring your drought to an end.
Jesus Held Out for the Rain
When Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness after fasting for 40 days, the Bible says He was hungry. I imagine that was a gross understatement. He had obvious unfulfilled needs, but He didn’t succumb to the temptations thrown at Him. Instead, He held out for the rain. He knew God could and would supply all His needs when the time was right.
I want to Copy Jesus and know the rain is coming.
