Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Philippians 4:4 NIV
It takes intention to be joyful. There is so much that wants to steal your joy. If you want to hang on to what you have, then you have to cultivate gratitude in your heart.
Choose to Rejoice and Praise God
I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Psalm 146:2 NIV
You have a choice. You can let life with all its trouble and little inconveniences get you down OR you can decide to be grateful for what you’ve been given and praise God for it.
I get it that others have it better than you do in certain areas of life. Perhaps they are healthier or they have a better job or they have more fulfilling relationships or they just seem to have it easier than you do. But, Comparison is a dangerous pattern to fall into.
You see, God has given each one of us our own blessings and our own challenges. Ours is not to reason why. Our job is to focus on the blessings and patiently endure the challenges.
The best way to do this is by continually rejoicing in the Lord for all the blessings you have. Focus on the positive. I’ll admit that this is sometimes difficult, but I’ve tried it both ways and being grateful is way better. It is the only path to joy.
Be Full of Praise and Rejoice!
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Romans 12:12 NIV
Count your blessings in prayer. Be intentionally grateful for what God has given you. This is the antidote for a heavy heart. Talk to God and give Him thanks for all the good things you have in your life. Focus your mind on Jesus and His grace. Rejoice in the Lord Always. I say it again, rejoice!
