Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.
1 John 2:6 NLT
The whole purpose of our walk with God is to become more Christlike. It is to be transformed to live as Jesus did.
Christ Set the Model to Follow
When I compare myself to Jesus, I see a big gap. I still have a long ways to go. But, I know the goal. I know who I want to be more like each day.
When Jesus finished washing His disciples’ feet, He told them:
I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. John 13:15 NIV
In all our relationships, we are to put aside our pride and selfishness to serve others. Jesus modeled this very behavior and instructed us to follow His example.
I want this to be my top priority as a Christ Follower. I want to conform myself to His likeness. I want to become more and more like Jesus.
I know this won’t happen overnight. It takes a lifetime. It is a day-by-day process. But, with every choice in the right direction, I am made a little more like my Savior.
I ask, what is the alternative? Make no mistake about it. We are all becoming more like something. We are either becoming more Christlike or we are drifting toward the darkness. It is our choice. This is a part of our freewill. Each person chooses for themselves who they become like. At the end of our walk on this earth, we will either reflect the likeness of our God or His enemy.
We All Choose What We Become
But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.
Joshua 24:15 NLT
We all have a choice to make. Who will you serve? What will your life stand for? Who are you becoming with the choices that you are making? Like Joshua, I want to be more Christlike.
