Yesterday, I assured you that the rain is coming. If you stand in faith, God will deliver the breakthrough you desire. He will bring a rainstorm of blessings.
But, what do you do in the meantime? How do you prepare to receive God’s favor?
Start Digging Ditches
I think you start digging ditches. I’ll explain in a minute. First, look at what the Lord said via the prophet Elisha:
Thus says the Lord: “Make this valley full of ditches.” For thus says the Lord: “You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.” And this is a simple matter in the sight of the Lord;
2 Kings 3:16-18 NKJV
God will bring an abundance of healing, of finances, of wisdom, of love, of protection, and of answers when the time is right. As in the example above, you may not even see it coming. You may not see the wind or feel the rain as it approaches, but suddenly and without warning, God will deliver the breakthrough you’ve been praying for.
Your job is to start digging the ditches.
Why You Need to Dig Ditches
You see, you play a part in paving the way for God’s miracles to unfold in your life. Faith is a key ingredient for breakthroughs. But faith is more than just idle hope. Faith is making preparations for things you cannot see.
In the scripture above, the Lord said, “You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain…” There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. There was no sign that water was on its way. Still, they dug.
Even when it doesn’t make sense, your obedience to God’s Word and what He’s speaking to you is crucial if you want that breakthrough.
What ditches is God calling you to dig?
Does He want you to forgive someone? Does He want you to let go of something? Does He want you to start something?
Transformation happens through participation in the purpose of God. You and your situation change as you fill the valley full of ditches in anticipation for what God is about to do.
God Will Fill the Ditches
Filling your ditches with water is a simple matter for our God. Nothing is too difficult for Him. Ephesians 3:20 tells us He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.
Even if you can’t see evidence that your miracle is coming, start digging the ditches. In the morning, when the time is right, God will fill them to overflowing.
Prepare for your breakthrough and believe that God will deliver!
