God is capable of so much more than I give Him credit for.
I worry about things when I should be trusting that He will work them out.
God can do anything He wants. He can open doors. He can grant me favor. He can protect. He can heal. He can pull off the impossible!
My job is simply to have faith and to act – move forward – believing He will work it out.
Depending on Me Alone
My tendency is to try to accomplish things based solely on my strength, intellect and capabilities.
That’s why I worry. Sometimes the situations I face are complex. They are bigger than me and I have no idea how I’m going to figure out what to do.
If you asked me, I’d say that God is larger than my problems, but that’s often not how it plays out in my mind.
I look at what seems like a mountain before me and I stress. The anxiety builds because I don’t see how I’m going to master the situation.
The thing is, I’m not alone and neither are you.
Jesus Is More Than Capable
The Bible tells us:
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. Isaiah 59:1 (NIV)
I am limited, but God’s arm is not too short!
He hears my prayers and He is in control of all things.
Jesus is more than capable. Look at what Paul tells us:
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
He is able to do far more than we can even imagine. What seems impossible for us is simple to our God.
Do we have a part? You bet we do.
Look back at the scripture above. Paul says, “according to the power that works within us…”
God’s plentiful power is activated when I move forward in faith despite the difficulties I see. God’s power within me will guide me through the complexities and trials of life.
I know you’ve probably heard this before, but it is worth repeating. God doesn’t always take us around difficulties, but he will get us through them.
So, if you face a situation that is stressing you out right now, here’s my advice:
- Pray liberally about it.
- Believe God is more than capable of handling it.
- Step forward in faith listening for God’s guidance.
Even if things get messy, remember, God works all things for the good of those who love him.
Where the Rubber Meets the Road
I’ve been leaning forward in faith lately and God is true to his Word. I wish I could say that I have demonstrated the faith of Job, but that’s just not the case.
However, I am making strides and I’ve seen results. Plus, I’m encouraged by Job’s words:
And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power? Job 26:14
I believe I’ve only seen a tiny little portion of the thunder of His power. I’m on the far outskirts, but I’m leaning in.
Will you join me? Where are you at in your walk with God? How has God shown His power and faithfulness to you lately?
