Sometimes life feels like a vast wilderness that we wander through trying to find our way. It often feels dry and desolate.
But rest assured, God is never far away.
The Lord Is With You
Yes, there are some tough things we face in life and sometimes it feels to me that God is distant. However, the longer I’m a Christ Follower, the more I understand that my feelings aren’t always accurate.
Look at what Moses told the Israelites:
For the LORD your God has blessed you in all that you have done; He has known your wanderings through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have not lacked a thing. Deuteronomy 2:7 NASB
God knows your wanderings. He knows what you are going through. Even though the children of Israel often felt their needs were being ignored, Moses tells them that God was with them the whole time. For forty years, even through the grumbling and disobedience, God never left them and he never leaves us either!
I’m convinced that when I feel distant from God, it’s me, not Him.
I’m the fickle one. I’m the one that lets the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes, for all kinds of worldly things, draw me away. I’m the one that gets tired and cranky and impatient. I’m the one that believes the lies of the enemy and wanders off into the wilderness. I’m the one that lets fear and anxiety creep in and dominate my thinking.
God is the same today, yesterday and forever.
He has been with me all along and he has blessed me in ALL that I’ve done. His affection for me never wavers.
God’s Faithfulness Will Always Prevail
God will get you through the wilderness and here’s why:
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 NIV
God will not let the wilderness consume us because He is full of everlasting love and compassion. Every morning His grace and mercy are renewed. His faithfulness never runs out.
It is easy to miss all the blessings God pours out in our lives. Those happy little coincidences where something good falls into your lap? That’s God blessing you. Don’t miss the opportunity to be grateful and thank Him.
I will not let my stubborn, sinful nature deceive me. I know God will get me through the wilderness.
