Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Matthew 7:13-14 NIV
I need God’s guidance to find and stay on the narrow road that leads to life. Left on my own, I tend to wander. My sinful nature leads me off into the wilderness.
Staying on the Narrow Road Is a Struggle
The path to destruction is broad. You see it all around you. Marriages ending in divorce. People getting caught in the snare of addiction. Violence. Murder. Suicide. You name it, it is out there. The darkness can seem overwhelming at times.
Thankfully, God is a Rock and He offers His guidance to anyone that seeks Him.
The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8 NLT
It is true that God offers to guide us down the narrow road. God answers but I don’t always listen. Instead of following the guidance He provides in the Bible and elsewhere, I arrogantly like to go my own way.
Fortunately, God offers forgiveness and redemption for these times as well. He always lovingly brings me back to the narrow road.
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord Acts 3:19 NIV
God is always there and His mercies are new every morning. I am so thankful! I can’t even count the number of times that I’ve needed Him to help me back to the narrow road.
God Guides His Children
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
Romans 8:14 NLT
God generously leads and guides His children. He doesn’t want anyone to ramble off into destruction. That’s why He’s so faithful to always gently lead us back onto the right path.
