What bothers you? What problem or situation in this world upsets you the most? What group of people does your heart go out to? Are you bothered by poverty, violence, human trafficking, broken families, PTSD, orphans or hunger? Is there one of these that really burdens your heart or is it something else for you?
The Path to Finding Your Calling
Don’t ignore that thing that really bothers you. It may be that you are blessed with a burden. God may be laying this need on your heart as a divine burden. He may be calling you to meet this need in some way that is unique to you and that will bless your life if you’ll follow His calling.
Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.
1 Corinthians 7:17 ESV
There is no single formula for copying Jesus. There is no one path or recipe to follow. Each person has their own purpose – a unique calling on their life.
As the verse above says, let each person lead the life the Lord as assigned to him or her. What is Jesus calling you to do? What has He laid on your heart? Do not be afraid to explore that place where you feel most disturbed. That is quite likely a calling for you.
From your divine burden will rise passion. Passion is powerful. It overcomes resistance. Resistance is what keeps change from occurring. You may be just the person to overcome the resistance and make a difference.
Follow Your Divine Burden
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. Galatians 5:13 NIV
There is a reason that God saved you and gave you freedom. He has a plan and a purpose for your life. I don’t know exactly what it is for you, but I know that it involves humbly serving others in love. Let your divine burden guide you to your calling.
