One of the key virtues necessary for becoming more Christlike is humility. Jesus really leaves no room for argument about this. In fact, look how He quelled a dispute amongst the disciples:
An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.” Luke 9:46-48 NIV
I need to copy the humility of Christ.
The Humility of Christ
Jesus displayed astonishing humility. He had every right to demand that others treat Him with respect. After all, He was the holy Son of the living God. But, that’s not how he acted. Instead, He served us all! Look at what this verse tells us:
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross! Philippians 2:5-8 NIV
If more people today had the mindset of Christ, the world would be a much better place.
As Christ Followers, we can lead the way in this regard. No matter your position in life, you can humble yourself and kindly serve other people. Set the tone. Be the difference. Don’t be normal because normal is always looking out for oneself. Stand out. Be willing to put your own ambitions aside and instead submit to the needs of others.
Humility Is True Strength
A man’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor. Proverbs 29:23 NASB
Real strength is displayed when one humbles oneself before God and our neighbors. There is no doubt, humility will spare you a lot of trouble. It is time to copy the humility of Christ.
