And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Acts 2:21 NIV
The name of Jesus is important because whoever calls on it will be saved. His name is powerful. In it, are the keys to life and death.
The Importance of the Name of Jesus
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 NIV
When you call on the name of Jesus, it must be done in humility. It has to be done with full recognition in your heart that He is Lord. His name is higher and more honored that any other name. Therefore, you must approach Him with the proper attitude. One that bows before His throne.
Once you call on the name of Jesus, He will give you a new name. And there is power in your name. It defines who you are just like Jesus’ names tell us who He is and why He came to earth.
A name describes your purpose in life. Look at what this article says about the name of Jesus:
The New Testament was written in Greek, and the name “Jesus” here means the same in Greek as the Hebrew name “Joshua.” “Joshua” means literally God is salvation. So the angel’s message to Joseph was “You shall call His name ‘God is salvation,’ for He will save His people from their sins.” That name tells us of Jesus’ purpose in God’s plan — that it is through Him that God saves humanity.
Jesus had an important purpose and His name clearly tells us this.
Call Out to the Alpha and Omega
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Revelation 22:13 ESV
Call on the name of the One that is the beginning and end of everything. Speak His name in reverence, but know that He is your friend. He came to save us all.
