David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.” 1 Chronicles 28:20 NIV
Solomon had a big, intimidating job ahead of him. He was to build the temple. It was a daunting task, but David assured him, God is with you!
You Can Depend on God
If you’ve been called to accomplish something in the service of the Lord, He will not let you down. He will not fail you nor forsake you.
Yes, there will likely be challenges (to put it mildly) along the way. Yes, you are likely going to feel overwhelmed and discouraged at times. But, don’t let appearances fool you. It may appear that God has abandoned you, but He hasn’t.
Time and again, in the Bible, we see seasoned men of God telling others the same thing. Look at what Moses tells Joshua when he faced overwhelming odds:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
Isn’t it interesting just how similar this verse is to the one above? David and Moses, after many years of serving the Lord, both understood God’s steadfastness.
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Persevere in the Face of Difficulty
Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame. Isaiah 50:7 NLT
As God’s servant, even when you face seemingly insurmountable odds, you should never give up. Be strong and do the work. God will deliver the results. He will not let you be put to shame.
